Morocco reaffirms readiness to negotiate autonomy status of Moroccan sahara inhabitants
Morocco has reaffirmed sincere and complete readiness to negotiate a status of viable, credible and final autonomy of all inhabitants of the Moroccan Sahara, the ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation said in a release, subsequent to the publication of the UN chief of his report regarding the Sahara.
The release underlined that such a compromise would bring this regional conflict to a halt and would allow countries in the region to re-launch the construction of the Arab Maghreb Union and face in unity and solidarity political, economic and social stakes.
Morocco hopes other parties will show the same readiness and political resolve to reach together a political solution, said the document.
The release added, however, that Morocco has highlighted the legitimate "red lines" that should not in any case be subject to any negotiation, namely the respect of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Morocco and of the constant foundations of the nation.
