Garang proposes to help in settling the conflict in Darfour
The spokesman for the southern rebels said that the leader of the rebels movement in southern Sudan, John Garang, proposed to give aid in settling the conflict taking place since more than one year in Darfour area to the west of Sudan.
Yasser Araman explained that Garang proposed to give his help after he had met -- by the end of last week in Eritrea -- the leader of the Sudan's liberation movement in Darfour Abdul Wahid Muhammad Ahmad.
The spokesman stressed Garang's readiness to take part in ending the conflict due to the importance of his movement in Sudan. He indicated that the US under secretary of state Charles Snider and the American envoy for the peace talks in Sudan John Danforth asked John Garang his help to settling the crisis in Darfour.
