Ben Ali underlines the importance of consultations to provide success for the summit
The Tunisian President Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali expressed his support to continue consultations before convening the Arab summit whose country proposed to host in May.
A Tunisian official source said that Ben Ali stressed during his meeting with the Foreign minister al-Habib Bin Yaha upon his return back from an Arab tour the care to intensify consultations among the Arab leaders in order to ensure the success of the summit in the service of all peoples of the region.
Bin Yahya handed over Ben Ali a report on the missions he had carried this week in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Egypt in the course of preparing for the summit.
Bin Yahya told reporters on Thursday in Cairo that the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers that are due in Cairo to continue preparations for the summit will witness a new spirit of Arab reconciliation, adding " even if we disagree among ourselves, disagreement is the rule of the life." Bin Yahya stressed his country's desire that all Arab leaders and presidents will attend the summit because all its debated issues are fundamental and of destiny, noting that no change is introduced to the agenda.
Last week the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa said that the summit will be held on May 22 and 23 in Tunisia.
It was however due that this summit was held on march 29 and 30 but was postponed by the Tunisian authorities because of fundamental differences among the Arab sides over the issue of democratic reforms.
