Moroccan-Spanish talks to focus on all issues with new positive approach, Minister

The visit to be paid Saturday to Morocco by the new Spanish prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodrigues Zapatero, will provide the opportunity to "tackle all issues concerning Moroccan-Spanish relations, with a new vision and a new positive approach" said in Rabat Thursday the Moroccan Minister of Communication and Government's spokesman.

Nabil Benabdallah who was speaking at a briefing following the weekly Cabinet meeting, said that Zapatero's visit to Morocco, has a "particular symbolic."

The messages exchanged between King Mohammed VI of Morocco and King Juan Carlos of Spain confirm the two countries' willingness to have "preferential relations based on a new strategic partnership," he explained.

Zapaterro, is expected on Saturday in Morocco, his first trip abroad since he took office last week. A visit that is seen by many observers as a strong signal to Morocco by the new Spanish executive power's eagerness to herald a " strategic partnership" between the two neighboring countries.

Zapatero, leader of the Spanish socialist party (PSOE), had vowed, in the aftermath of his election, to establish "preferential relations" with Morocco, a country, he insisted, that "deserves preferential treatment and relations that are tailored to bringing about very close ties."
