Originally published

The Jordanian police yesterday killed three persons it described as terrorists in al-Hashimi area to the east of Amman.

A Jordanian security source explained that the three men were killed during a clash to the east of the capital.

A statement for the Jordanian police said that the clash took place after the security forces got information saying that there is an armed group planning for carrying out terrorist attacks." The source added it had asked members of the armed group to surrender themselves, but they started to fire at the security forces, and this obliged the security men to retaliate and break into the house where the terrorist group is hiding. The operation resulted in killing all members of the group. They are three. Two of them are of non- Jordanian nationality.

News reports said that the Jordanian security forces cordoned the site of the clash, and it is difficult to make assessment over the nationality of the person who was killed.

This incident, however, came few days after the Jordanian authorities had announced finding booby trapped trucks that were prepared to target vital sites in Jordan.
