The Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced in conclusion of a meeting with the French President Jack Chirac in Paris on Wednesday that the Arab summit which was postponed by the end of March might be held on May 9th.

The secretary general of the Arab league Amr Moussa had announced that the summit will be held in May in Tunisia, but no date was defined for that.

The Arab summit which was due basically in Tunisia on March 29 and 30 was postponed because of " deep differences " over political reforms in the Arab states, according to Tunisia in its statement on the postponement.

President Saleh said that these "reforms should come from the inside rather to be instructed from anyone outside," in remarks to the American Greater Middle East initiative.

As for Iraq, Saleh announced that Yemen and the international community "are not confident over the deteriorated security conditions." He said "we do not want bloodshed. No blood of the Iraqis nor the coalition forces, we want the situation to be improved and to reach a solution that guarantees the unity of Iraq and to have a democratic and united Iraq."
