Originally published

The Human rights society in Syria called on the "authorities concerned to find out a solution for the file of missing and notify their relatives about their fate, take necessary legal measures and material and moral compensations for their relatives in order to close the file of the past and heal the wounds.

In a statement from Damascus, the unlicensed society said that the other objective of publishing a preliminary list in the name of certain missing since the beginning of the 1980s is to invite all who have "information on those persons, who were detained during that period, to help in disclosing their fate."

The statement said that one copy was sent to each of President Bashar al-Assad and the Minister of the interior Ali Hammoud.

Although the statement stressed that this phenomenon ( missing ) has been ended since the 1980s, however, it is considered that " practicing compulsory disappearance, is still among the currently continued violations, especially under the state of emergency continuous since more than 40 years.
