Galilee: the detention of one Imam and son of a Palestinian of 1948 lands

Originally published

The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot said yesterday that the Israeli authorities detained Imam of a mosque in al-Maker village in the Galilee, and also son of the chairman of the local council in the village, over suspicion of forming an enemy organization and conspiracy to carry out a crime.

The paper quoted Israeli security sources as saying that the detention took place two weeks ago in al-Maker, but the "reconciliation" court in Akka permitted the publication of the news on Sunday.

The sources indicated that " four pistols were found in the house of the Imam, owned by the suspects." Commander of the central investigations unit in the Galilee area Evee Libeh said that "the background of the incident ( the detention) seemed to be political differences in the village."
