Hurriyet: Russian Official highlights role in Iraq

The Russian Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Alexander Yakuvinko stressed that Iraq should restore independence as soon as possible so that the country can again play its role on the international arena. Yakuvinko, in an interview published in the Turksih daily newspaper of Hurriyet, said for Iraq to do this, the UN is called on to form a plan to be carried under its own supervision.

The Russian official added that Moscow hopes the forthcoming visit to Russia by the Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul would develop relations between the two countries.
