Maher stresses the return back of relations with Tehran, shortly
The Egyptian Foreign minister Ahmed Maher announced that there is an agreement, principally to restore back diplomatic relations between Egypt and Iran to their normal position, shortly.
Maher said upon presiding his country's delegation which takes part in an Islamic summit which is hosted by Iran "what is left now is certain measures which we do hope will not take much time." Maher stressed following his meeting with the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami, the desire of Khatami to visit Cairo and deliver a speech at al-Azhar.
Maher also met with his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharazi, and agreed to continue contacts with the aim to resume full relations between the two countries.
The change in relations between the two countries was reflected in the historical "hand shake" between Khatami and his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak in Geneva in December 2003.
