Amir of Qatar issues a decree on terrorism fighting
The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani, has issued the terrorism fighting law after it was approved by the Qatari government and the Shoura council, according to the Qatari news agency. This law, however, is considered the first of its kind in this state.
The secretary general of the Shoura council, Fahd Bin Mubarak al-Khayarin, has denied that adoption this law came in reaction to the assassination of the former President of Chechenia, Salim Panderieve, who was killed when his car blew up last Friday in Doha.
He said that the terrorism- fighting draft bill was debated before this incident and it had been discussed since December 2003 by the parliamentarians.
He refused to give more details about this law and confined to saying that it is based on certain laws to fighting terrorism in the countries of the region and the Arab states.
The Qatari official news agency also gave no details on the law or ways of implementing it or what is meant to terrorism.
