Al-Ahram: Turkish Premier and the situation in Iraq
Turkish Prime Minister, Recip Tayyep Erdogan, stressed that the idea of establishing a federation on ethnic basis in Iraq contradicts the principle of maintaining the country's territorial integrity and doesn't help effort to restore stability there.
Erdogan, in an interview published Sunday in the Egyptian Al-Ahram daily, said such federation disagrees with Iraq's demographic and religious facts. He called for concerted efforts by the global community, particularly the Arab states, to boost Iraq's unity and establish security and peace as well as to help Iraqis enjoy sovereignty and run their own affairs by themselves.
