Australian open: injury forces Moroccan El Aynaoui out

Originally published

Moroccan Younes El Aynaoui was forced to abandon Monday the Australian open because of a foot injury.

El Aynaoui, seeded 18, withdrew in the first round of a match against Spanish Calo Blanco who was leading 4-1.

The 32-year old Moroccan had pulled out of an eight-man exhibition event last week because of the injury.

Last year, El Aynaoui played one of the most memorable matches at the Australian Open when he lost to world number one Andy Roddick in a five-hour marathon in the quarter-finals.
