Originally published

During a meeting chaired by King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, the Government of Saudi Arabia has committed to "dialogue and moderation attitudes, and called for not violating the Islamic doctrines."

In a statement following its weekly meeting, the Saudi cabinet stressed the need of maintaining dialogue and its principles so as "to avoid disorder, and not to violate the Islamic jurisprudence in the name of the freedom of expression or any other name and to abide by reason and wisdom."

The statement added that " the cabinet stressed clinging to all contents of the speech of the Crown Prince Abdullah after the end of the second meeting of the 'intellectual dialogue'" which was held by the end of December 2003.

The Saudi government warned that the dialogue should "avoid riding the wave and the lust to show off" and called for "the need of pursuing the wise Islamic attitude, the Koran and the prophet principles."

The Saudi crown prince who runs the affairs of the Kingdom ,because of the deteriorated health conditions of King Fahd, announced last Wednesday his country's determination to continue the operation of moderate and gradual reforms already his government had started.
