Statement of the Iraqi Turkmen's delegation visiting Damascus

Chief and members of an Iraqi delegation representing the Islamic Movement of Iraqi Turkmen, Iraqi Turkmen Front and Chieftains of Turkmen Tribes, on Thursday, highly lauded Syria's pan-Arab stances towards the Arab causes, her support to the Iraqi people in their ordeal, and her care for Iraq's territorial integrity.

In a statement following their meeting with Vice President Abdul-Halim Khaddam, they stressed the necessity for adhering to Iraq's national unity, Iraqi identity for reaching to a unified independent state of Iraq that includes all the Iraqis.

Earlier, Vice-President Abdul Halim Khaddam met with the Iraqi delegation. The Iraqi delegation briefed Khaddam on the suffering of the Iraqi people, and the challenges that threaten Iraq's unity and territorial integrity, asserting the necessity for preserving the Iraqi unity. Khaddam stressed Syria's care for maintaining Iraqi unity and independence.
