Al-Shara confers with Austrian parliamentary delegation

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara received in Damascus Tuesday Speaker of the Austrian Parliament Andres Khol and an accompanying delegation on Syrian-European relations, particularly the Syrian-Austrian ones.

Talks also dealt with issues of mutual concern and with Syria's initiative submitted to the UN Security Council regarding freeing the Middle East from weapons of mass destruction WMD.

"This initiative reflects Syria, Austria, and other European states' care for boosting security and stability in the region" al-Shara said.

Al-Shara also underlined the importance of Austria's role at the UN in preserving the international peace and security.
