Al-Assad confers with speaker of Austrian parliament

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received Tuesday Chairman of the Austrian National Council Andreas Khol and an accompanying delegation. Talks dealt with the situations in the region, particularly in Iraq, the peace process in the Middle East, and Syria's vision regarding resolving the issues of the region in line with the international resolutions.

Talks also dealt with the Syrian-European relations, the partnership agreement, the bilateral relations between Syria and Austria and the European role including Austria's in achieving security and stability in the region. Speaker of the People's Assembly Mahmoud al-Abrash also met with Khol.
