al-Sharq al-Awsat: Syria's interior minister on the positive relations with Turkey

Syria's Interior Minister, Ali Hammoud, described as "historical and ancient" the relations between the two neighboring countries, Syria and Turkey.

In an interview given to the London based, al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper published on Wednesday, Hammoud underlined that it is normal to have good relations between Syria and Turkey, because these relations contribute in achieving stability of the region and developing the two countries.

"Syria lead the countries that condemned the explosions in Turkey, and she cooperated with Ankara to offer all possible security help," he added.

He pointed out to his successful visit to Turkey during which he signed an understanding memorandum on boosting cooperation between the two Interior Ministries.

The minister added that the Syrian Interior Ministry deals honestly with the Turkish Ministry, denying any infiltration across the borders into Turkey.
