Kuwait summons Yemeni ambassador over criticizing parliament members
The first deputy for the Kuwaiti prime minister, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad, said yesterday that the ministry of foreign affairs was assigned yesterday to summon the Yemeni ambassador to Kuwait, Ali al-Ahmadi, after he was accused of making statements in which he criticized several members of the Kuwaiti parliament.
This step, however, came following strong criticism, addressed by several Kuwaiti members of parliament to the Yemeni ambassador and against Yemen's President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, accusing the Yemeni regime of having supporting the regime of Saddam Hussein.
In an interview published by the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am yesterday, al-Ahmad accused certain members of the Kuwaiti parliament of talking about the past in order to provoke hate among the citizens of the Arab states.
Al-Ahmadi was commenting on statements made by Kuwaiti parliamentarians, in which they said that President Saleh in November 2002 recommended Saddam Hussein to invade Kuwait once again, in order to foil the American - British war against Iraq.
