24 killed in clashes in Somalia
Some 24 persons were killed at least, and other 80 wounded in clashes between warring factions on Monday and Tuesday in the city of Herali in the downtown of Somalia.
One of the chieftain said that "acts of violence erupted on Monday and continued on Tuesday between the two tribes of Deir and Mreihan," noting that acts of violence had almost stopped on Tuesday by midday.
Worthy mentioning that at least 12 persons were killed in the mid of November in clashes between the same tribes in Herali. By the end of October, some 27 persons were killed in similar conditions.
The fighting took place following the killing of one tribe chieftain at the hands of persons presumed to be from Deir tribe.
Worthy mentioning that Somalia is under the law of the warring warlords, and that it does not have a central government, ever since the fall of President Muhammad Seyad Berri in January 1991.
Since October 2002, a national reconciliation conference has been convened in Kenya in an attempt to form a government and an administration that would be able to spread full control on the lands of this poor country which is situated in the African horn.
