Originally published

"The Sultanate and Yemen signed at the Foreign Ministry today the Sea Border agreement during the meetings of the joint political committee," Oman's news agency ONA reported yesterday.

It said "Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs signed the agreement on behalf of the Omani side, while Dr. Abu-Bakr Abdullah al-Qarbi, Yemeni Foreign Minister signed for his side adding "Alawi said this agreement followed the demarcation of the land border, adding that the two countries' leaderships were always keen to set an example in the brotherly relations."

ONA added "Al-Qarbi spoke about the historical relations binding the Sultanate and Yemen. He said the two leaderships realized that demarcation of borders between the two countries would result in a real partnership and further bilateral cooperation."

Meantime, ONA reported that "The Yemeni Foreign Minister said steps were taken to establish a joint free zone between Oman and Yemen with a view to creating a Yemen-Gulf single market. He hoped the forthcoming AGCC summit in Kuwait would produce new resolutions that would further activate Yemen-AGCC gulf ties. He appreciated the Sultanate's role in this respect."
