Israeli forces kill two gunmen near the Lebanese borders

Originally published

The Israeli army announced that its soldiers killed two gunmen near the Lebanese borders.

An armed clash took place between the occupation forces and the gunmen near the al-Ghajar border village inside the Israeli borders. The Israeli army alleged in its statement that the clash did not result in woundings among the Israelis.

The statement did not indicate whether the two armed men sneaked from the Lebanese territories or the Palestinian territories, nor did it give additional details in the identity of the gunmen and the time when the clash took place.

Earlier in the day, the Hizbullah party which controls the northern borders with Israel, said that it opened anti- warplanes fire against Israeli war jets flying over south Lebanon.

The sorties of the Israeli planes over the Lebanese airspace came during the visit to to south Lebanon by the Iranian ambassador in Lebanon Massoud Idrissi Karamanshahi .

The last time in which Israel violated the Lebanese air space went back to November 22. The UN special representative Stevan De Mistora welcomed last week the decrease in the number of the Israeli warplanes sorties in the Lebanese airspaces.

Israel withdrew its forces from South Lebanon in May 2000 under pressure of attacks by the Hizbullah party following Israeli occupation that lasted for 22 years. But the Israeli planes since then carry regular air sorties over South Lebanon.
