Dentist from Karbala instead of Aqeela al-Hashimi

The governing council in Iraq announced yesterday appointing the Shiite dentist Salma al-Khafaji to replace on the council Aqeela al-Hashimi who was assassinated in September in Baghdad.

A statement by the council said that al-Khafaji, one of three women members in the council, is from Karbala. The occupation authority in July approved the composition of the governing council on ethnic and religious diversity and allocated three seats for women.
