A Yemeni official denied that the wife of the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein resorted to Yemen with her younger daughter Hala, despite the offer given by the Yemeni authorities to her earlier to host them.

The same official said that "news which rumored on the arrival of Sajida and her younger daughter to Sanaa recently were not correct." He added that Yemen does not oppose hosting any of the families of the former Iraqi officials due to "Arab values, traditions and honor in addition to the fact that this matter is humanitarian issue approved by international norms and on the ground that women and children have no guilt in what had taken place in Iraq.. However, the matter is left for the Iraqi families themselves and their own choice."

The Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am said that Sadam Hussein's wife and their younger daughter moved to live in Yemen after they had left Syria.

The paper said that Sajida Kheir Allah Tilfah, wife of the toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, and their daughter Hala, together with two children she had adopted before the fall of the Iraqi regime in April, arrived in Sanaa where the Yemeni authorities put a house at their disposal, according to the paper, quoting Arab sources.

But the Yemeni source, on the other hand, stressed that wives of certain former Iraqi officials arrived in Yemen during the past week, including wife of Ali Hassan Al-Majeed who was arrested by the coalition forces in Iraq in August.
