Saudi Arabia foils a booby trapped attack, two persons killed
Saudi Arabia said it had foiled an attack by a booby trapped car in the capital Riyadh on the first day of Eid al-Fiter, and its forces killed two gunmen in a fire exchange.
The Saudi TV quoted a statement by an anonymous official that bullet exchange took place yesterday while a "terrorist operation" was about to take place. The official added that the identity of the two killed persons is not known yet and that the police is searching for their partners. No other details were given.
A statement for the ministry of the interior broadcast by the Saudi official news agency commended the performance of the police. The statement said that "speed and efficiency in which the security men dealt with the situation had greatly contributed to stopping this terrorist scheme, by clashing with the terrorists, and getting them out of their hiding." This resulted in killing two of them and seizing the vehicle which was prepared for a terrorist operation.
