Palacio: life in Baghdad is worse than under Saddam's rule

Originally published

Spain's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Maria Palacio yesterday considered that the daily life in Baghdad is "worse" than it was under the rule of Saddam Hussein because of the lack of security.

In statements to the Spanish national "TVA" television. the minister indicated that there are "grave security problems" in Iraq, and that "daily life, especially in Baghdad, is much worse than it was under Saddam's rule." A situation that should be the interest of the coalition authority and the Iraqi government.

On the other hand, Palacio indicated that the situation is "better than before in other Iraqi areas, especially in the southern parts of the country" that were severely mistreated by Saddam Hussein's regime. She added that the occupation authority and the government are working to improve the daily life in Iraq.
