No one has the right to impose any Sahara settlement to Morocco, Chilean speaker
No one has the right to impose any solution to Morocco regarding the Sahara issue, said speaker of the Chilean Senate, Andres Zalvidar Larrain, currently on an official visit to Morocco.
Speaking at a meeting here with his peer of the Moroccan House of Representatives (parliament lower chamber), Abdelouahed Radi, Zalvidar voiced his country's support to the kingdom in this issue.
He also praised Morocco's role on the Arab and International scene, saying Chili is following closely the ongoing modernization and democratization process, carried out under the leadership of king Mohammed VI.
The two men underlined Morocco and Chili's convergence of views on several international and regional issues and the excellent bilateral ties binding the two countries.
Radi hailed Chili's backing to Morocco's territorial integrity and recalled some aspects of the artificial conflict that aims at undermining the kingdom's unity and hampering the building of the Maghreb Union.
In another meeting with speaker of the Chamber of Advisers (upper chamber), Mustapha Oukasha, voiced hope that the UN will find a satisfactory settlement to all parties, while respecting peoples' rights and without undermining states' territorial integrity.
He stressed that Moroccan-Chilean ties should be further enhanced, particularly in areas of fisheries, energy and mining, calling Moroccan economic operators to draw benefit from the Chilean market's potential.
Speaker of the Chilean House of Deputies, Isabel Alendez, will also be visiting Morocco November 23-26.
