Moroccan athlete gets 2-year suspension for doping, tribunal confirms

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirmed in Lausanne, Switzerland, Wednesday a 2-year suspension of Moroccan 3,000 steeple chase record holder, Brahim Boulami.

Boulami had tested positive for the forbidden substance EPO, when the IAAF's conducted pre-competition testing on an "A" sample, one day before he bettered the 3000m steeplechase world record in Zurich on 16 August, clocking 7min 53.17sec.

The Moroccan Athletics Federation had cleared Boulami of the accusation saying the test was not accurate and denouncing procedure flaws in "Sample B" analysis.

"I have not taken and never will take EPO or any other banned substance," Boulami had told MAP.
