Turabi to meet with Garang soon
The secretary general of the Sudanese opposition congress party Hassan al-Turabi on Saturday in Doha announced that he will be meeting "within days" in France, the leader of the southern rebels John Garang in order to discuss peace possibilities in Sudan.
Turabi said "we are trying to have the meeting including other forces and not to be like the duality of John Garang with the government." The other forces are represented in the Sudanese opposition members al-Sadeq al-Mahdi and Muhammad Saeed al-Meirghani. But Turabi did not set a date nor a place for convening this meeting in France.
Turabi said in Doha where he had arrived at the invitation of al-Jazeera TV to take part in a religious program, according to his family said "the said sides agreed to waiting for meeting and were are materially preparing for it." This is, however, Turabi's first visit outside Sudan after his release since one month.
