Former Jordanian crown prince wants a centrist political trend

Originally published

The former Jordanian crown prince, Hassan Bin Talal, uncle of King Abdullah, said he is working for launching a "centrist political trend" which, as he stated, is a necessity in Jordan as it is abroad.

Prince Hassan said in the first talk about a political role he advocates since the decision taken by the late Jordanian King Hussein to alienate him from the crown in January 1999 "I will be shortly ready to launch a centrist people's trend in which those who believe in logic" will dominate adding "A trend whose existence has become imperative at more than one internal and external levels."

In a statement to the Jordanian independent weekly "al-Majd," the prince added that his next job is to address the Jordanian, Arab and Islamic conscience, considering that the "possible conflict between Christian extremism and Islamic political exaggeration will lead the region to destruction."
