The new Palestinian government chaired by Ahmad Qrei is preparing to win the confidence of the parliament this week, but at the same time it will face problems in resuming peace talks with Israel.

The Palestinian prime minister Ahmad Qrei announced that he had invited the legislative council to meet on Wednesday to ratify his government which is composed of 24 ministers including 7 ministers who will keep their positions which were assigned to them in the emergency government while Yasser Abed Rabbu walked out of the formation.

The government will be joined by eight new ministers including 6 of the Palestinian National Liberation Front ( Fatah) led by President Yasser Arafat and the minister from the Fada party, Zaheira Kamal, and a minister from the people's struggle front.

The independent member at the Palestinian parliament Hassan Khreisha expected that the government will get the confidence easily. He added that the new government returned back ministers who were accused of corruption. He also predicted that Washington and Tel Aviv will avoid any talks with the next Palestinian government.

In Gaza, some 1,000 Palestinians demonstrated yesterday in protest of continued freezing by the Palestinian authority of the financial accounts for Islamic social charity establishments, close to the Islamic resistance movement ( Hamas ) which provided them monthly financial aid.

The demonstration started by a sit-in in front of the headquarters of the legislative council before it headed to the headquarters of the Palestinian monetary authority in Gaza where the demonstrators threw stones at the headquarters and this resulted in inflecting slight damage in the building.

The demonstrators called on the monetary authority to end the freeze of the assets of the Islamic establishments so that they can receive their financial assistance.
