French daily: it's Algerian army officers that conduct interrogation of Moroccans held in Tindouf camps
All the Moroccans held in the Tindouf camps have been questioned by Algerian army officers and tortured by soldiers of the Polisario separatists, says Saturday the French daily Liberation.
"Such serious accusations have seldom been corroborated by such antagonist sources, the paper writes reporting on testimonies by a group representing Moroccan Saharan provinces that visited Paris recently, and the conclusions of an investigation conducted last April in Tindouf by the French NGO "France Liberte The story titled "Moroccan prisoners in "Polisario-Land:" Overwhelming Investigation of France Libert?s," Liberation goes on that the French Ngo's 15-day fact-finding mission unveils that "the labor force of the refugees camp (.) is Moroccan. Moroccan prisoners have built all civilian infrastructures, roads included, Liberation adds, quoting France Libert?s describing it as a NGO that can be accused of partiality, which used to unfailingly support the Polisario."
Concerning Physical and moral torture sustained by the longest-held prisoners of the world, Liberation stresses that "all of them have been tortured during the questioning that followed their kidnapping. In Rabouni, almost all of them have been questioned by Algerian army officers and tortured by polisario soldiers." The paper cites the case of Abderrahmane, held since 1982, who refused to give military information. He was burned alive.
"Omar Finidi, kidnapped when he was 19, refused forced labor. He was locked up in a 1m.20-by-80cm cell and taken out once a day. He was executed in 1994."
