Al-Assad confers with speaker of the Lebanese parliament

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received on Sunday a delegation of Lebanese Parliament headed by the Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the relations between the two states, particularly between Syria's People's Assembly and Lebanese Parliament as well as with the understanding memorandum which was signed between both sides.

Talks also dealt with the prospects of cooperation and coordination in the international circles for the benefit of the two states' interests and the Arab issues.

The delegation stressed Lebanon's support for Syria's stances. People's Assembly Speaker, Mahmoud al-Abrash and Secretary General of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council, Nasri al-Khouri attended the meeting.

At the invitation of Speaker of the People's Assembly, Mahmoud al-Abrash, Speaker of Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri and an accompanying delegation arrived today in Damascus. Berri was received at the Syrian-Lebanese border by al-Abrash.
