Yemen: eight al-Qaida members arrested
A Yemeni security source announced yesterday that the Yemeni police detained 8 persons suspected to have links to al-Qaida organization. This was in the framework of the "campaign carried out by the authorities to fight terrorism."
The source said that "detaining the 8 said persons in Aden province to the south of the capital and in Sanaa came following warnings the American embassy in Sanaa received of threats of terrorist acts against it and other western interests."
The source added that six of the suspects were detained in the coastal city of Aden while the other two were detained on Sanaa, noting that the acts of detention were made within the two past days.
