FBI members increased in Riyadh

Originally published

A diplomat at the American embassy in Saudi Arabia said that the US Federal Bureau for Investigation (FBI) has a department at the embassy whose number increased since the Riyadh explosions in May.

The diplomat said that the "FBI usually deploys two or three members in Riyadh but had increased their number since the Riyadh attack," which resulted in killing 35 persons including 9 Americans on May 12. But he refused to specify the number of persons in this unit in Saudi Arabia, confining to saying that "their number is continuously changing with the arrival and departure of some of them."

The American diplomat added "their mission is based on supporting the Saudi authorities to fighting terrorism," giving no further clarifications.
