L'opinion: former military chief of MINURSO: unlikely to impose solution on Morocco
" I don't see how the UN Security Council can impose a solution on Morocco," said Andre Van Baelen, former military chief of MINURSO (French acronym for the UN mission for a referendum in the Sahara).
The former MINURSO military chief, who served from 1992 to 1996, told "L'Opinion" daily Morocco is too important in the region to challenge its stability. He further insisted that there is no other alternative than a "medium solution" to the issue of the Sahara.
