UAE parliament delegation meets Moroccan officials
A UAE parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker of the UAE National Federal Council, Said Mohammed Kindi, held in Rabat Thursday separate meetings with speakers of the Moroccan upper and lower parliamentary chambers and the minister of finance and privatization.
The delegation, which arrived Wednesday in Morocco on a work visit from 17 to 20 September, discussed with speaker of the Houses of Representatives, Abdelouahed Radi, means to consolidate parliamentary cooperation, reinforce bilateral relations, promote Arab joint action and hoist inter-Arab relations to the level of regional and international challenges.
Radi and kinki also examined different questions concerning the Arab Parliamentary Union, highlighting the role of Arab governments in creating an Arab joint parliament. The two Arab officials underlined the need to promote inter-Arab cooperation and economic exchanges.
Radi hailed UAE standpoints in favor of Morocco, particularly its support to Morocco's territorial integrity, reiterating the kingdom's solidarity with the UAE as to the issue of the three disputed islands and its efforts to resolve the problem peacefully.
Speaker of the Houses of Advisors, Mustapha Oukacha, underlined at a meeting with the UAE delegation the initiatives of the Gulf country to back investments in Morocco and reinforce economic relations.
Earlier, minister of finance and privatization had termed relations between the two countries as "politically strong but need to be reinforced at the economic level."
Kinki proposed in this connection the suppression of customs duties for UAE goods, underlining the necessity to ease investments and remove obstacles hindering economic exchanges.
He also called on Moroccan economic operators to profit of his country's experience in economic and industrial sectors.
The delegation members hailed the democratic breakthrough achieved in Morocco, underscoring that the Arab world is closely following Morocco's drive toward modernity, progress, openness and the enhancement of democracy.
