Message from al-Assad to Sultan Qaboos

Syria's Vice - President Abdulhalim Khaddam has stressed the importance of consultations among Arab leaders in order to realize the best solution for the critical situation in the region.

Following his arrival in Muscat for an official visit today, Khaddam stressed that he came to Oman to convey a message from President Bashar al - Assad to Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

"we will exchange viewpoints about the means of enhancing Arab action and finding the solutions for the obstacles the Arabs encounter," He added.

"The Arab nation is facing two crucial issues, the Palestinian issue and the Iraqi one, we can't separate the two issues from each other," Khaddam said.

He stressed the necessity for realizing Arab solidarity and unity in order to confront the crises.

" Syria, due to her national policies, was continuously encountering pressures, but we are confident of our national policies and of Arabs' support" he added.
