Arafat thanks Syria for its support

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara received in Damascus yesterday a phone call from Chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Yasser Arafat.

During the phone call, Arafat thanked Syria for supporting the Palestinian cause at the UN Security Council and for defending it in facing the Israeli brutal attacks and the Israeli repeated attempts to exile Arafat.

He highly appreciated President Bashar al-Assad's courageous and principled stances in supporting the Palestinians people's rights.

For his part, al-Shara stressed Syria's support to the Palestinian cause and Syria's care for boosting the national unity of the Palestinian people.
