Saudi sources deny confiscation of missile shipment

Originally published

Saudi sources have denied that its security forces confiscated "ground to air missiles" shipment on a desert road leading to Jeddah in August, as alleged by the UK BBC network on Thursday.

The sources explained to the Saudi daily Okaz issued yesterday as saying that the confiscated items were RPJ over-the-shoulder anti-tank shells smuggled to Saudi Arabia in August and were confiscated at al-Qanfaza - Jeddah road, as stated by the Saudi ministry of the interior in a detailed statement.

The paper indicated that the source of these items might be the Yemeni territories at a time when the Saudi security forces are chasing the wanted persons and looking to uncover the terrorist cells.
