Originally published

The Israeli police stressed that the Israeli warplanes bombarded yesterday al-Bayyada hills near al-Naqoura town in south Lebanon, where the headquarters of UNIFIL working in the area is stationed.

The bombardment targeted the positions of the Hizbullah party. News reports in Beirut said that the Israeli planes launched three raids at these positions.

A spokesman for the Israeli army said that the planes attacked artillery position for the Hizbullah party that fired earlier shells that hit Shamra village to the west of Hebron.

Hizbullah party announced that it had fired its anti- aircraft means against Israeli warplanes which broke into the Lebanese airspace over the western sector in south Lebanon. The Israeli warplanes flew last week over south Lebanon and broke the sound barrier over the Eastern Bekaa plain.

These developments, however, came despite the progress attained recently in the indirect negotiations between the Lebanese Hizbullah party and Israel concerning prisoners issue which so far led to handing over the remains of two killed members of the party and permitting the German mediator the visit of a prisoner Israeli army officer.
