Minister opens museum telling Thebes' military history
Egypt's Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni opens in early November the Luxor Museum annex, the first museum to tell Thebes' military history and the wars entered by Pharaonic Egypt.
The inauguration will take place in celebrations of Luxor National Day on November 4.
Zahi Hawas, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), said during a visit to Luxor that the museum will contain 120 archaeological pieces collected from different museums and sites related to the military history of Thebes, one of the most important capitals of ancient Egypt.
Work at the museum took 24 months at a cost of L.E. 10 million, said Hawas.
Meanwhile, Hosni approved a national project to document and register all antiquities.
The three-year project will be carried out by the SCA and Cairo University archaeology professors.
