Morocco probes strategy to supervise expatriates issues
The Moroccan government examined Wednesday a strategy to supervise Moroccan expatriates in educational, cultural and religious realms.
The meeting was chaired by prime minister, Driss Jettou, who said it is crucial to supervise expatriates at all levels and examine their needs to meet them with efficiency.
Under the strategy, the government will create multidisciplinary cultural spaces in the major capitals of the world to secure the cultural and civilizational radiance and concrete ties with the populations of host countries.
The project is designed to disseminate amongst expatriates religious and civilizational values based on tolerance, dialogue and coexistence.
The government's plan includes educational programs and pedagogical tools adapted to the needs of expatriates' children in collaboration with host countries' authorities.
Minister in charge of Moroccan expatriates, Nouzha Chekrouni, outlined the broad-lines of the government strategy that aims to encourage the integration of Moroccan expatriates in host countries, while preserving their Moroccan identity, mobilize them to defend national causes and provide favourable conditions to facilitate their participation in public life.
The strategy encourages negotiation with host countries for making the Arabic language an optional choice in all levels of education.
The tutorship department had set up an action program to ease administrative and legal procedures to find adequate solutions to the problems encountered by expatriates.
