Saudi Mufti calls for not exaggerating in religion
The general Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah al-Sheikh, yesterday called on Muslims not to "exaggerate in religion" and to avert unjustified calls for Jihad (struggle)
In a statement circulated by the Saudi News Agency, the Mufti said "certain persons appeared in our time to have violated the true path, and because of them, great misdirection happened in the ( Islamic ) nation."
The agency quoted him also saying that among the reasons for this ignorance are acts that are not compatible with the text of the Holy book and the Sunni, miss-estimates by rulers and princes, and exaggeration in religion, either in interpreting it or in its implementation."
