Kurd elected chairman of the constitution's preliminary committee

The Iraqi transitional governing council announced yesterday that the preliminary committee in charge of preparing for the constitutional conference in Iraq has elected member of the Kurdistani National Federation party Fouad Masoum as its chairman.

The spokesman for the council Muhannad Abdul Jabbar said that the preliminary committee ( 25 figures) in charge of preparing for a constitutional conference to draw a draft for the constitution "elected the renowned Kurdish figure Fouad Masoum from the Kurdistani National Federation party as its chairman."

He added "the committee also elected Muhammad al-Haj Hammoud as the first deputy and Muhammad Rida al-Ghareiqi as the second deputy, so that the three men constitute the leading committee for the Iraqi constitution commission."
