AL renews call for Iraqi groups to meet in Cairo

Originally published

The Arab League (AL) renewed yesterday its confirmation that "it has no objection to host various Palestinian groups in order to convene a meeting under its sponsorship to discuss the Iraqi issue and to prepare and formulate the Iraqi constitution.

The assistant secretary general of the Arab League Ahmad Bin Hali said that the "AL and its secretary general Amr Moussa welcome all Iraqi political figures and forces on the ground that "the AL is the home of the Arabs," noting that "there is nothing preventing the AL reception of various Iraqi forces, including members of the transitional Iraqi governing council."

The transitional governing council in Iraq rejected individual invitations extended to some of its members to convene meetings in Cairo with Amr Moussa.
