Coalition Provisional Authority Prepares to Issue Interim Travel Documents to Iraqis

The Coalition Provisional Authority says it plans to issue Interim Travel Documents in lieu of passports in the near future to facilitate travel by Iraqi citizens outside their country.

According to a CPA announcement August 19, Interim Travel Documents are not yet available to Iraqis. The CPA said the Interim Travel Documents will be used only until Iraqi authorities can issue passports.

The CPA said that Iraqis may travel outside their country without passports, depending on the entry requirements of the destination country.
