Malaysian foreign minister-visits Umayyad mosque

Malaysian Foreign Minister Mahateer Muhammad, his wife, and the accompanying delegation paid yesterday a visit to Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.

The Malaysian delegation made a tour inside the mosque and was briefed on the mosque's history and its operations of restorations.

Later, Mohammad and the delegation visited the mausoleum of the late Arab Leader Salah Addin al-Ayoubi.

At the end of the visit, Mahateer wrote a word in the visiting record during which he indicated that he learned a lot about the Islamic philosophy in this visit.

Later, the Malaysian foreign minister and his wife made a tour in Hamidiya and its ancient markets.
