Director of Iraqi TV appointed by occupation, resigned

Originally published

The director of the Iraqi TV, Ahmad al-Rikabi, who was appointed by the American forces to launch media campaigns inside Iraq has resigned just three months after starting his work as he failed to attract the Iraqi people to what Washington broadcasts inside Iraq.

In a press statement, al-Rikabi said that the Iraqi people listen to neighboring Arab TV stations, rather than to what the Americans disseminate via the Iraqi TV.

He added that the US has failed to invest in the Iraqi TV and also failed in restoring back the Iraqi personnel who used to work earlier in it, noting that most of the personnel used to work in the TV had left the work.

The American administration had summoned on al-Rikabi, the Iraqi opposition from abroad to assume the administration of the Iraqi TV and radio and to direct the Iraqi media in a way that was viewed by some as serving the American and British interests there.
