Sending Arab troops to Iraq not raised for discussion
Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said the issue of sending Arab troops to Iraq is not raised for discussion.
Emerging from a meeting with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Monday, Maher added Egypt viewed that the Interim Governing Council in Iraq was a step on the road for Iraqis to run their own affairs.
Asked about the initiatives pertaining to development of the Arab League, Maher said that the ideas floated, including those of Egypt, will be discussed at the foreign ministers' level to take whatever measures proper and refer a relevant report to the upcoming Arab summit.
The Foreign Minister said the Egyptian initiative in this respect is an effort seeking to merge all the Arab stances.
